Refashioning sweatshirts for a child is one of the more fun things I have done. It varies from working with adult sweatshirts because fit is not the same kind of issue as it is for adults. For instance, we don't tend to worry about whether or not that ruffle is making the hips look too big. A couple of things I do keep in mind while making these little jackets are that most children have narrow shoulders. Because of this I have chosen to leave the neckbands on the jackets to keep them from slipping off their shoulders. I've also chosen to make only jackets for this book rather than making any of them over-the-head pullovers. When dressing a wiggly, energetic child, jackets can be so much easier to put on and take off.
